Thank You zine:
This zine was definitely the most important one to make. Growing up it was hard not seeing someone that looked like you on TV, for a long time I thought no one famous, who was brown existed. I grew up finding idols in the black community but still felt lost and alone. As I got older I began to realise there are people who look like me, who are doing amazing things in their different fields, the media just doest shine a light on them. This idea alone fueled me to make something that celebrated the amazing figures in the British Asian community, from actors to bakers to activists to Oscar-winning directors. (This zine acts as a homage to them)
I know now the media is a bit better at the representation of minorities, but there's still a long way to go. Currently, I have a niece who's 1 years old, I wanted to make something ready to show her that there are amazing people in our community and if she ever feels left out or different, she can just look at this zine and realise we are special.
